Dr. Chapman Sheryl Brissett Chapman, Ed.D., ACSW

Her list of accomplishments is long and distinguished, but there are two common themes throughout: a willingness to make a difference in the lives of others, and the desire to put the good of the community before her own needs. Because of all she’s done, and because of the high ideals she embodies, KFC is proud to recognize Sheryl Brissett Chapman with the Pride 360 Award. Her selfless contributions to individuals, and to society as a whole, are an inspiration to everyone.

  • Co-editor of the first Child Welfare Journal on African-American Children in Child Welfare


  • Creator of the first national summit on Caring for African American Children and Families in the Child Welfare System


  • Selfless caregiver to victims of child maltreatment at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC


  • Instructor for more than 15 years at the Howard University School of Social Work, on both the Masters and Doctoral level


  • Teacher of Black Child Development and Public Policy at the University of Maryland


  • Founder of a contemporary, culturally competent child and family services agency in the metropolitan Greater Washington-Baltimore Region
