ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Since 1998, the non-profit Kentucky Fried Chicken Foundation, a public charity, has helped one of the world’s most recognizable brands give back, thanks to the widespread and ongoing support of KFC Franchisees and the KFC Corporation. Today, the KFC Foundation is primarily focused on helping provide educational opportunities via scholarships and grants for postsecondary education. Since 2006, the Foundation has awarded nearly $11.5 million to deserving students.
In the past two years alone, the Foundation has awarded almost $1.5 million to 808 KFC Team Members across the country via the REACH Educational Grant Program. We are motivated by Colonel Sanders’ belief in the importance of hard work and determination, recognition, giving back and passion for a job well done. Our REACH Educational Grant recipients truly embody these characteristics. From the single parent finally completing a degree started 15 years earlier to those who are the first in their families to attend college, it’s difficult to hear their stories and not be inspired.
The Foundation’s REACH Educational Grant Program helps KFC restaurant hourly Team Members and Shift Supervisors pursue their educational dreams. These $2,000 grants help Team Member recipients attend accredited four-year and two-year educational institutions, as well as trade/vocational schools. Winners are selected via a competitive application process and may reapply each year. We will begin accepting applications for the 2014 REACH Educational Grant on March 15, 2014.
Angel’s dream is to be on the bench of the Federal Court of Appeals.
Cindy plans to become a Neurosurgeon. “If you have enough heart and desire to do something, then it can be done.”
“The REACH Educational Grant will help me pursue my dream and keep my promise of graduating to my 4 year old son.”
Through the KFC Colonel’s Scholars program, the Foundation continues to distribute scholarships to over 200 winners. As high school students, these recipients demonstrated financial need, an entrepreneurial drive and a commitment to community. Now, as college students and graduates, they continue to impress us with their efforts to give back in their local communities and the world over. Our Colonel’s Scholars alumni consist of doctors, engineers, lawyers, researchers and others who will continue to make a difference for years to come! Please note: We’re no longer accepting applications for the Colonel’s Scholars program.
Through the KFC Feeds program, the Foundation provides assistance to the victims of large-scale natural disasters by donating hot meals via churches, community centers and “on the ground” disaster relief organizations. For example, following the May 2013 tornadoes that ravaged areas near Oklahoma City, OK, 1,953 meals were distributed to disaster victims.
