ITS A BIRD! ITS A PLANE! NO, ITS COLONEL SANDERS!

"Flying Colonels" Go to Extremes to Tell America KFC®'s Chicken Sandwiches Really Fly with Consumers
SANDWICH, IL - When it comes to chicken, KFC® knows the sky truly is the
limit. In what may be the chicken folks most outrageous stunt yet, five Colonel
Sanders look-a-likes, known as the "Flying Colonels," literally take a leap of
faith and skydive from 15,000 feet to announce the arrival of KFCs new line of
freshly made chicken sandwiches. Appropriately, the posse of string-tie clad skydivers
descend on the "sandwich capital of the world"the town of Sandwich,
Illinois.
"The Flying Colonels have to fall from 15,000 feet to get their
hands on our new chicken sandwiches, but the drive-thru will work for the rest of
America," said Terry Davenport, KFC chief concept and marketing officer.
THE SKYDIVE -"PLAY-BY-PLAY"
Five professional skydivers, representing each of the new chicken
sandwiches --Tender Roast®, Triple Crunch®, Triple Crunch®
Zinger, Original Recipe® and Honey BBQ -- will be costumed to
resemble the legendary Colonel Sanders.
Once the short takeoff and landing aircraft (STOL) reaches Sandwich,
Ill. at 15,000 feet above ground level, the Colonels will "Hop N Pop," or
jump out of the aircraft and immediately open parachutes specially designed with each of
the five different sandwich logos. While airborne, one of the Flying Colonels will try one
of the new sandwiches taking the concept of airborne, one of the Flying Colonels
will try one of the new sandwiches taking the concept of "eating on the
go" to entirely new heights.
Flying in a parachute formation, the skydivers will wave an enormous
600 square-foot KFC flag. Upon landing, the Flying Colonels will present the new
sandwiches to the mayor of Sandwich, Illinois. In additionAdditionally, KFC served up
4,000 sandwiches to the residents of Sandwich, Illinois.
"This is a first for us. Its not everyday that we eat a
chicken sandwich diving from 15,000 feet all while trying to keep our white suits
clean," said Robin Berg, professional skydiver leading the corps of Flying Colonels.
"Im confident that were up to the challenge. With nearly 40,000 jumps
between us, the Flying Colonels are among the best and most experienced group of skydivers
around."
